In 2016, higher education IT organizations are divesting themselves of technologies that can be sourced elsewhere and of practices that have become inefficient and are reinvesting to develop the necessary capabilities and resources to use information technology to achieve competitive institutional differentiation in student success, affordability, and teaching and research excellence.

Universities explore charging stations as a way to provide better customer service and help students academically.

Powermat Technologies today announced the installation of its wireless charging platform at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), allowing students to charge their mobile phones, so they can stay connected to the information and learning resources they need while on the go.

Students at California State University, San Bernardino will soon be able to charge their mobile devices wirelessly all over campus. The school is installing the Powermat wireless charging platform in high-traffic common spaces, student union areas, study areas, and on-campus cafes and restaurants to help students stay connected to the information and learning resources they need. The next step will be a broader implementation in the university’s library and classrooms.

Cal State San Bernardino has named Gerard Au as the university’s new associate vice president for technology operations and customer support.
It is a pleasure collaborating with Gerard Au on any IT solution. He makes himself available, pays close attention to what you say during consultation sessions and captures the essence of your requests in his advice and solutions. Gerard makes sure he understands the request and supports realistic ways through and/or around any complex IT problem. I will utilize Gerard's algorithm for complex IT solutions for many years to come. Thank you Gerard!

This book addresses a single question: can a good company become a great company, and if so, how? Based on a five-year research project comparing teams that made a leap to those that did not, Good to Great shows that greatness is not primarily a function of circumstance, but largely a matter of conscious choice, and discipline. This book discusses concepts like Level 5 Leadership, First Who (first get the right people on the bus, then figure out where to drive it), and the Flywheel.
